FAQ and Grow Gide

What is the reliable approach for achieving excellent results when using Be Salty Professional Blend?

For more than two decades, we've been involved in various consulting capacities. Our experience spans from overseeing extensive facilities to reviving the most modest ones. Every consultation follows a consistent approach. Through extensive testing, we've identified techniques that prove effective without fail, and removing the growers' touch from the equation is not feasible for a successful crop.

The process is straightforward:

Start by creating an optimal environment for your plants. Research has shown that the ambient temperature is best between 75°- 83°F (24°- 28°C). Above 86°F (30°C), enzymes lose their shape and functionality. When temperatures drop below 75°F (24°C), enzymes do not operate efficiently.

1-gallon pots filled with straight Coco Coir is a great option. Easier to crop steer and monitor your dry backs. Coco Choir is forgiving and doesn't necessitate an extensive root system for robust yields. We recommend a density of 9 plants per 25 square feet. This gives your plant room to breathe and fill out.

Implement automated watering whenever possible, manual feeding can also work well.

Provide daily feeding at 5.9 to 6.1 pH, optimal water temperature of 19 degrees with 20% runoff. This ensures the plants receive essential nutrients daily, maintains pH levels, and facilitates root oxygenation. The solution's pH directly influences nutrient solubility. Deviating from the recommended pH range restricts the availability of certain nutrients to the plant. Regularly monitor your runoff. Monitoring root zone pH & EC level is crucial for informed cultivation.

Feed schedules are recommendations only.  Adjustments may be needed based on cultivar type, environment, water quality, and grow system.

Incorrect nutrient sequencing can result in a lockout, rendering nutrients inaccessible to the plant. Always follow the directions on the label. We always add Silica to our reservoir first, wait an hour, adjust the pH to 6.0, then add our nutrients in the correct order, and adjust the pH again before feeding if necessary.

What strengths should I mix Be Salty professional blend?

We recommend using quarter strength when watering clones, half strength with the first watering when planting, and then full strength until the final flush. Using these strengths from start to finish yields amazing results every time. We recommend flushing with foundation every ten days through the bloom phase.

We recommend starting with quarter strength when watering clones with a target EC level of 2.0, pH 5.7, half strength with the first watering when planting with an EC level between 2.1 – 2.5, and then full strength until the final flush. We have successfully used EC levels between 3.0 – 4.0 in Coco Choir and 2.5 - 3.0 in Rockwool. These strengths from start to finish yield amazing results every time. We recommend flushing with foundation every ten days through the bloom phase.

5.9-6.1 (Coco - Rockwool)                                                                                    6.1-6.5 (Peat based mediums)

What additives should I run with the Be Salty professional blend?

Be Salty professional blend is already in its final form and requires no additional modifications. However, when it comes to cannabis cultivation, various additives can be beneficial for the growth and health of your plants. Here are some commonly used additives for cannabis nutrients. Beneficial Microbes: These include beneficial bacteria and fungi like mycorrhizae and rhizobacteria. They assist in nutrient absorption and promote overall plant health. Enzymes: Enzymes help break down organic matter, making nutrients more accessible to the plants. Silica: This can help strengthen cell walls, making plants more resilient to pests, diseases, and environmental stressors. Humic and Fulvic Acids: These organic acids improve nutrient uptake and can help with soil structure and water retention. Molasses: It contains sugars that can feed beneficial microbes in the soil, enhancing nutrient availability. Kelp Extracts: These are rich in trace minerals, amino acids, and growth-promoting hormones. pH Adjusters: Substances like pH up (potassium hydroxide) and pH down (phosphoric acid) help maintain the appropriate pH level in your growing medium. Remember to carefully follow the manufacturer's instructions and consider the specific needs of your plants at each stage of growth. It's also advisable to start with lower concentrations and gradually increase as needed, while closely monitoring your plants for any signs of stress or nutrient imbalances.

*** Except Silica, none of the above additives should be used in Aeroponics, RDW, or DW systems

Is it necessary to utilize filtered water when using the Be Salty professional blend?

We have been successful with the use of tap water and well water, to avoid the necessity of adding pH up after mixing. It's perfectly fine to use either all RO water or all tap water. However, incorporating enough tap water with your RO to eliminate the need for pH up.

Can I use Be Salty Professional Blend with Aeroponics, Recycling Deep Water, Coco Choir, Peat Moss, Soil, Rockwool?

Certainly:

Be Salty Professional Blend is versatile and compatible with all various styles of cultivation. Our customers successfully implement it across different substrates and employ various nutrient delivery techniques. While we do recommend Coco Choir with a drain to waste due to its user-friendly and forgiving characteristics, Be Salty Professional Blend adapts well to any medium.

Regardless of your chosen medium, it's advised to adhere to the provided feed chart. However, for soil and peat-based setups, we suggest following a feed/feed/water schedule to prevent excessive buildup.

For outdoor cultivation in soil, we recommend a feed/water/feed regimen for optimal results."
